Detroit — An attempted break-in on Detroit's east side late Monday night ended in one man's shooting and another man's arrest, police said.

At about 10 p.m., on the 3400 block of Fischer — south of Mack, west of McClellan — a 41-year-old man allegedly broke into a 46-year-old man's home.

The victim fought back. As the two struggled, the 41-year-old pulled a gun and fired, police say, striking the homeowner in his left hand. Then he fled on foot.

Police arrested a man a short time later at Fischer and Mack, about a fifth of a mile north of the shooting.

The victim was treated and listed in stable condition.
