Detroit — A 15-year-old Detroit male has been charged in connection to the fatal shooting of another 15-year-old male, also of Detroit, prosecutors say.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office says the juvenile has been charged with careless discharge of a weapon causing death.
The incident occurred at 1:40 a.m. on Sept. 15 when police were called to a shooting in the 16600 block of Belton on the city's west side. When they arrived, officers found the victim lying in the rear bedroom, unresponsive, prosecutors said.
A Detroit police investigation led to the arrest of the 15-year-old, who allegedly shot the victim.
The preliminary hearing will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 23 before Judge Leslie Graves.
