Detroit police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place late Saturday night on the west side.

Just after 11:05 p.m. a 77-year-old man was fatally shot outside of a business on the 16200 block of Schoolcraft, west of Greenfield.

Police say the victim was leaving the business when a man came out from around a corner and approached him, pointing a gun and demanding money.

The suspect then demanded money from a second man, 57.

Just then, a second suspect came out from around a corner, to the victim.

The witness heard "two or three" gunshots and saw that the victim had been hit.

Both suspects fled the scene. One went west on Schoolcraft and the other went back around the building. Police recovered a handgun near the victim's body, but no detailed description of either suspect is immediately available.
