Man arrested after woman shot on Detroit's east side
Detroit — A 29-year-old man is in police custody after a woman was shot on the city's east side early Saturday, police said.
Police were called to the 10000 block of Berkshire Street, near Harper and Outer Drive, at 2:20 a.m. Saturday.
When they arrived, they saw the man armed with a handgun, who fired one shot, police said.
Officers told him to drop the weapon and he complied. Officers were not shot at or injured, police said.
While he was standing by the driver's side door, officers saw a 27-year-old woman standing near the passenger's side door with a gunshot wound.
The man was arrested and the woman was taken to the hospital for a gunshot wound to her upper thigh. She is in temporary serious condition, police said.
