Authorities released surveillance images of the car to spur tips.

Detroit police are seeking tips to find a motorist who fled officers and damaged a scout car Tuesday on the city's west side.

Officers were trying to investigate occupants in a blue Chevrolet Camaro on the 19900 block of Oakfield at about 3:55 p.m. "when the driver put the vehicle in reverse and hit the scout car," police said in a statement.

The driver then "made a U-turn and side-swiped the scout car, causing minimal damage, and fled the scene," according to the release.

No officers were injured in the incident.

The Chevy is described as having two air vents and white stripes on the hood as well as a temporary sticker in the back. A description of the driver was not released.

The Camaro also had white stripes on the trunk.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Detroit Police Department's 12th Precinct at (313) 596-1240. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
