2 shot, security guard arrested after argument in checkout line
Detroit — An argument in a checkout line at a store on Detroit's west side Sunday afternoon ended in a double shooting and the arrest of a security guard, police said.
The double-shooting took place about 6:05 p.m. on the 17600 block of Joy Road, east of the Southfield Freeway, said Latrice Crawford, a Detroit Police Department spokeswoman.
Police say a 42-year-old woman began arguing with someone in the checkout line when a 46-year-old man got involved. The argument moved to the parking lot, where the 59-year-old security guard allegedly shot the other man.
The woman then pulled a gun of her own, but the guard allegedly shot her, too.
Both victims were taken to hospitals, and both were listed in critical condition.
Police arrested the security guard.
