Detroit — A 46-year-old man sought help at a Detroit police precinct early Wednesday morning after being shot during an altercation with "four or five men" on the city's west side, police said.

The shooting took place about 12:30 a.m. on the 14600 block of West Chicago, said Janae Gordon, a Detroit Police Department spokeswoman. That's just west of Hubbell.

Police say the victim got into an argument with four or five men in the area. But when he tried to drive away, he was shot.

After being shot, the victim drove about two miles west to the Detroit Police Department's 6th precinct, and medics transported him from there to the hospital, where he was listed in temporary serious condition.
