Detroit police are working to identify a body found Wednesday in a vacant house on the city's north side.

A person working construction in the area called 911 at about 9:45 a.m. to report the corpse, which appeared to be wrapped, behind a home in the 20400 block of Hawthorne.

The gender, race and age of the remains were unknown, police said in a statement.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office is expected to determine the cause of death.
