Detroit police officer grazed by bullet, suspect shot on the city’s west side

A Detroit officer was grazed by a bullet and a suspect was shot on the city’s west side, police said Thursday.

The incident occurred near Cambridge Avenue and Birwood Street, according to a Police Department tweet shortly before 6 p.m.

A suspect was shot and taken to a hospital, police said.

Police did not immediately release the condition of the officer or the suspect.
