Mount Clemens – — A man was taken to the hospital after accidentally shooting himself in the hand and is expected to face charges in the incident.

Macomb County Sheriff’s deputies found the bleeding man sitting on the living room floor of an apartment on North Groesbeck at about 8 p.m. Tuesday. He told them he had been “messing with” his Jiminez Arms, .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun, according to Lt. John Michalke.

The gun accidentally discharged, hitting the 58-year-old in the hand. The bullet then lodged in his right thigh.

The man owned the gun, which was unregistered. Deputies also learned the convicted felon had two warrants for his arrest, Michalke said.

He faces charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of an unregistered firearm and reckless discharge.
