Lenox Township — Police arrested a man Friday who allegedly robbed the same gas station twice this month, including a holdup earlier the same day.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said deputies followed a pickup truck that matched the description of the one used in the robberies. After conducting a traffic stop, deputies detained two occupants. One of the men, a 20-year-old from Chesterfield Township, was arrested.

In addition, evidence was recovered that links the man to the robberies, authorities said. The investigation is continuing and charges are expected.

At 2:26 a.m. Friday, a robber brandishing a handgun entered the Shell station at 37887 26 Mile demanding money and also took two cartons of cigarettes before leaving.

The same gas station also was robbed Oct. 6. In that robbery, the gunman took an undisclosed sum of money from the store, and a carton of Newport cigarettes.
