Harrison Township — Charges are expected against a driver who veered into oncoming traffic, resulting in the death of a 65-year-old man, Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said Tuesday.

According to preliminary reports, Wickersham said a 35-year-old Harrison Township man was driving a silver, 2006 Ford Econoline van, traveling eastbound on North River Road at 2:42 pm. Thursday when he veered into the westbound lane and struck a white, 2008 Ford E250 van, occupied by a 65-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman, both of Windsor, Ontario.

Deputies found the 35-year-old driver of the Ford Econoline van outside of the vehicle, alert and talking. Rescue personnel had to extricate the couple from the Ford E250, who were then transported to McLaren Hospital.

John McKee, 65, the driver of the Ford E250, died Sunday as a result of his injuries.

No condition update was given on the female passenger Tuesday.

Deputies determined the 35-year-old driver of the Ford Econoline had an “administratively revoked” driving privilege. He was treated for injuries sustained in the crash.
