St. Clair Shores — Police say a man is in custody after he fatally shot a visitor Wednesday evening during a dispute at his home.

The homeowner, 40, was taken into custody after he shot a 30-year-old Eastpointe man around 7:20 p.m. on the 22000 block of 10 Mile, east of Jefferson Avenue. The home sits on a canal just off Lake St. Clair.

The victim was shot twice in the chest and died at St. John Hospital in Detroit.

Police said the victim was visiting when a dispute occurred. They would not comment on why the men argued.

No further details were immediately available.
