A 43-year-old Mount Clemens man with a history of drunken driving has been charged with operating while intoxicated following an incident in Fraser, police said.

On Nov. 27, Fraser police were called to the WOW convenience store at Groesbeck and Utica for a car accident. According to police, an officer saw a 2005 Chevrolet van in the parking lot. The vehicle was running and in gear, and the man was passed out in the driver’s seat, police said.

“The front tires were against the parking curb, which prevented the vehicle from hitting the front window of the occupied building,” police said in a news release Monday.

The driver refused to take a alcohol chemical test. After police got a search warrant to test his blood, results showed the driver’s blood alcohol content at 0.175, more than twice Michigan’s legal driving limit of 0.08.

The driver has five previous convictions for driving under the influence since 1991, police said.
