Man arraigned in shooting death in St. Clair Shores

St. Clair Shores — A man was arraigned Friday in the shooting death of a visitor at his home during a dispute over money.

Gerald Kupinski, 40, was arrested after he allegedly shot Eastpointe resident Adam Abraham, 30, around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday on the 22000 block of 10 Mile, east of Jefferson Avenue. The home sits on a canal just off Lake St. Clair.

Abraham sustained gunshot wounds to his arm and chest. He died at St. John Hospital in Detroit.

Kupinski was arraigned in 40th District Court before Judge Mark Fratarcangeli. He was charged with second-degree murder, felony firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon.

He had a prior felony conviction related to a drug offense, according to police.

He faces up to life in prison for the murder charge.

Bond was set at $750,000 cash or surety and a preliminary exam was scheduled for Jan. 13 at 8:30 a.m.
