Mount Clemens — A Rochester Hills man has been arrested on charges of child sexually abusive activity after he allegedly tried to arrange a sexual encounter over the Internet.

The Macomb County Sheriffs Department has identified the suspect as Matthew Robert Jaworski, 42, who has been charged with three counts of child sexually abusive activity and one count communicating with another to commit a crime using a computer.

Each of the charges is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

According to investigators, members of the Macomb Area Computer Enforcement responded to an advertisement that was posted on an Internet site that was indicative of child sexually abuse activity.

In a series of emails and texts between the suspect and detectives, Jaworski allegedly arranged a sexual encounter with someone he believed to be a 14-year-old child.

According to reports, at a predetermined time the suspect drove to a location in Washington Township where authorities say he believed he would engage in a sexual act with the child.

On Wednesday, Jaworski was video-arraigned in the 42nd District Court of Romeo. He was granted a $200,000 cash or surety bond which he did not post.

He is scheduled to appear on March 17 in the same court.
