Windows smashed at 3 Lenox Twp. businesses, cops say

The Detroit News

Police believe one person is responsible for smashed windows at three businesses in Lenox Township.

Windows were broken at the State Farm Agency in the 36000 block of 26 Mile, and a nearby Sprint store and Tim Horton’s restaurant.

Lt. John Michalke of the Macomb County Sheriff's Office said it appears someone used a crow bar to break out the windows to get into the stores.

A witness called the sheriff’s office about 2 a.m. Thursday to report she had seen someone break into the insurance agency. As deputies responded, an alarm went off at the Sprint store. As deputies investigated that alarm, they noticed the window smashed at the Tim Horton’s.

No one was seen when deputies arrived. A sheriff’s dog was called in to help and some items were recovered from behind the businesses, Michalke said.

A cash drawer was taken from one of the businesses, he said.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance videos from nearby businesses.
