Macomb sheriff looking for owner of jewelry in mailbox

The Detroit News

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the owner of some valuable jewelry.

According to Lt. John Michalke, someone found the jewelry in November 2013 in a United States Postal Service mailbox in Macomb Township and turned it over to the sheriff’s department.

He said the office hasn’t gotten a missing property claim, nor has anyone reported missing the items. The office had the jewelry appraised and experts said it is very valuable.

Michalke said anyone who misplaced the jewelry or had it stolen more than a year ago is asked to call the sheriff’s office property room at (586) 307-9319.

To prove ownership, claimants will have to provide a detailed description of the jewelry, Michalke said.
