Second suspect arraigned in Sterling Heights killing
A second suspect was arraigned Thursday for alleged involvement in the death of man whose body was found last week after a fire at his Sterling Heights home.
Demonte Marcellus Easterling, 19, was arraigned in 41-A District Court on charges of first-degree homicide, felony murder and armed robbery. He is being held without bond.
Easterling is the stepbrother of Bria Corrine-Janelle Blackmon, a 20-year-old Madison Heights woman also arraigned this week on murder charges in the incident.
The body of Michael Scott Freeland, 57, was found Friday morning during a house fire in the 37000 block of Andrew.
Blackmon and Freeland allegedly met on Craigslist and started dating, according to police. Blackmon and Easterling later robbed Freeland, which led to his death, police said.
