A 57-year-old Lenox Township man has died following a one-vehicle crash on 31 Mile Road.

Richard Lee Reinhardt was identified Monday as the person killed when his 2004 Toyota Scion XB struck a bridge guardrail in the 31000 block, Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said.

The accident occurred about 3:37 p.m. Saturday when, witnesses said, Reinhardt’s vehicle, which was pulling a small utility trailer westbound veered off the road, hit the guardrail and landed in a ditch.

When sheriff’s deputies arrived, the driver was unresponsive and not breathing, the sheriff’s office said. Reinhardt was taken to McLaren Hospital in Mount Clemens where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy has been performed and a cause of death is pending. Police say Reinhardt was wearing a seat belt and airbags on the vehicle deployed.
