Army, Air Force exercises ahead at Selfridge
Harrison Township — The U.S. military says it's conducting several days of military exercises in southeastern Michigan, including night flights from Selfridge Air National Guard Base.
The Michigan Air National Guard says people living near Selfridge "may notice increased helicopter traffic and night flying operations" from Wednesday through June 11.
Spokeswoman Penny Carroll says that night flyover training will take place early in the morning and says many military units are involved in the exercise.
Selfridge is in Macomb County's Harrison Township, near Mount Clemens.
Flint city spokesman Jason Lorenz says the Army began conducting training exercises Monday in the Flint area and in other parts of southeastern Michigan. Lorenz says helicopters are taking part in the exercises, which may be audible to residents. Lorenz says the exercises run through June 12.
