Warren — One man died and another was injured early Monday in a single-car, rollover crash, police said.

The 26-year-old driver was killed in the crash just before 5:30 a.m. on northbound Mound Road near Martin Road, just north of Interstate 696, police said.

The driver, from Roseville, was attempting to make a lane change when he lost control of his 1998 Jeep Cherokee, police said. The vehicle struck a curb, flipped, and hit a fire hydrant near the driver’s side roof area.

A male passenger received non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Beaumont Hospital for treatment, police said.

Both the driver and passenger were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, police said. Officials previously reported the driver was not wearing a seat belt.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
