A third suspect was arraigned Thursday afternoon in the slaying of a party store owner in Clinton Township in March.

Albert McKinley, 20, of Detroit was arraigned in 41B District Court on charges of felony murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

McKinley is accused of robbing Emil Salem, 50, owner of Bernie’s Market in the 39900 block of Garfield. Salem died after exchanging gunfire with the robbery suspects.

In April, Ujuan Kirdell Burton, 31, of Oak Park, was arraigned on four charges in connection with the murder. Shardae Lynett Burt of Detroit was charged with being an accessory after the fact for allegedly taking Burton to a Toledo hospital for treatment after he was wounded in the face and the foot.

McKinley was allegedly the driver of the getaway vehicle. He was given no bond.

The FBI-Macomb Violent Crimes Task Force arrested McKinley on Wednesday evening at a Farmington Hills motel, police said.

According to the Michigan Department of Corrections, McKinley was previously convicted of armed robbery, felony firearm and assault with intent to rob while armed.
