Mount Clemens — On Tuesday, a White Lake Township man was arrested after he showed up for what he thought would be a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old girl.

Instead, he was apprehended by detectives from the Macomb County Sheriff Department’s Macomb Area Computer Enforcement Team.

On Wednesday, Wayne Kenneth Johnson, 46, was video-arraigned in Clinton Township’s 41B District Court on one charge of child sexual abusive activity and one charge of using a computer to commit a crime.

He remains in the Macomb County Jail after failing to post a $50,000 cash or surety bond.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, detectives responded to advertisements that Johnson allegedly posted on a popular website. During the investigation that followed, Johnson allegedly made advances to someone he thought was a teenage girl.

Detectives said that after numerous communications, Johnson agreed to drive to a location in Clinton Township on the pretense of meeting the fictitious 14-year-old for sex.

Johnson’s next court date is 1:30 p.m. Sept. 9.
