Macomb Township — The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is looking for information after a flasher was seen outside of Atwood Elementary School on Tuesday night.

The flasher is described as a white male, about 45, mostly bald but with gray hair on the sides of his head. He is 5-foot-10, of medium build and was wearing a leather jacket and khaki pants.

Initial reports from parents visiting the school claimed they saw a man walking through Atwood’s parking lot exposing his bare butt. Witnesses, who were there for a meeting of a student club, say the man exposed himself multiple times, the sheriff’s department said in a release.

Sheriff’s deputies were unable to find the man. Lt. John Michalke of the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office said there was about a two-hour lag time between the incident and when the department was called. He encouraged anyone who sees something suspicious to call 911 as soon as possible.

After following up with principal Angela Szczepanski, the sheriff’s office says it learned that the man was on the edge of the parking lot on North Avenue, walking north. The man is accused of dropping his pants three times. He continued north on North Avenue and then east on Harrelson, the sheriff’s office says.

Kelly Allen, spokeswoman for L’Anse Creuse Public Schools, said no students are believed to have seen the flashing.

The day after the incident, Szczepanski called a full staff meeting at Atwood, during which she gave a description of the flasher and told the staff to be on alert.

Allen said the district would be sending home a letter to parents to give them a heads-up about what happened.

Anyone with information on the incident is being asked to call the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office at (586) 307-9412.
