Clinton Township — While his father was out looking for a job, a three-year-old boy decided to go on a walkabout early Tuesday morning.

The unidentified child was found by police in the area of 15 1/2 Mile and Harper at about 7:43 a.m. He was reunited with his anxious dad and uncle after being AWOL for a little more than an hour.

“We received a call at about 7:45 a.m. that he was missing and then we found him about 20 minutes later,” said Detective Captain Richard Maierle. “We then received a call from the child’s uncle. Apparently, the boy lived with his uncle and his father, who had left the home this morning looking for employment.”

According to police, the father said he was certain he had locked the door behind him.

“The uncle was sleeping, woke up and found the boy had apparently unlocked the door and was missing,” Maierle said. “He called us and everyone has since been reunited. Everybody’s fine.”
