Warren police: Child on bike struck, killed

A child riding a bike in Warren died Wednesday night after being struck by a car, police said.

Warren police officers said the bicyclist had been riding near Nine Mile and Weller about 6:30 p.m. when the youth was struck.

The youth, described in broadcast reports as a 13-year-old, was pronounced dead shortly after the collision.

The driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the accident, which is under investigation, police said.

Police gave no other details.
