Washington Twp. man accused of running meth lab
Mount Clemens — Police have arrested a Washington Township man for allegedly running a methamphetamine lab in his mobile home.
On Thursday morning, Kevin James McKinney, 53, was taken into custody at his home in the East Village Estates located on 26 Mile near Van Dyke.
Deputies from the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department, as well as from the Sheriff’s Enforcement Team, executed a search warrant at the home where they found the laboratory.
They also discovered a marijuana grow operation in one of the bedrooms.
McKinney was video arraigned in 42-1 District Court of Romeo on three felony charges including:
■ Controlled substance: operating/maintaining a methamphetamine laboratory.
■ Controlled substance: possession of methamphetamine/ecstasy.
■ Controlled substance: deliver/manufacture marijuana.
Operating a methamphetamine laboratory is a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
McKinney was given a $20,000 cash/surety bond. He is due back in court on 9 a.m. Tuesday.
