Macomb Township — One person received an eye injury when a car crashed through the front window of a restaurant Monday evening.

According to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred 6:05 p.m. at the Ban Thai Resturant located in the 50800 block of Romeo Plank.

Authorities report that a 42-year-old Macomb County woman drove her 2015 Kia through the front of the restaurant where deputies found it with its front end inside the business.

A 64-year-old Macomb Township man received an injury to his eye due to flying glass. He was taken to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital for treatment where his condition remains unknown.

The driver told police she had arrived at the restaurant to pick up food and thought she had placed her vehicle in the “park” position but it was still in “drive.”

The woman said she panicked and hit the accelerator instead of the brake.

The driver was cited for failing to use due caution and for a handicap parking violation.
