68-year-old woman dies in Eastpointe house fire
Eastpointe — A 68-year-old Eastpointe woman is dead after a fire broke out at her home Tuesday morning, said Lt. Dave Ernatt of the Eastpointe Police Department.
A neighbor called in the fire on the 23000 block of Lexington at about 1:30 a.m. The fire department soon responded, and transported the woman to a local hospital, but she died.
The fire department is still on the scene and a firm it contracts with will be boarding up the home, Ernatt said. Fire investigators will dig deeper into the incident later Tuesday, but Ernatt said the fire doesn’t appear to be suspicious at this point.
