One dead in Macomb Twp. stabbing

An early-morning dispute between roommates in Macomb Township escalated into a stabbing that left one dead early Sunday.

Macomb County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call just after 1 a.m. at the Northport Apartments complex, north of Hall Road. They discovered a 21-year-old male suffering from a stab wound.

The victim, Brian Dequan Shepard, was taken to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Shepard was home with his roommate and two other people when the stabbing occurred. The 26-year-old roommate is currently being held at the Macomb County Jail.

He has not been identified. Detectives will present their findings to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday.
