3 arrested in Roseville linked to car-buyer robberies

Roseville police say they have three suspects in custody who are linked to robberies of customers who wanted to buy used cars listed on a popular web site.

The residents of Detroit were caught when police set up a sting operation after receiving reports three people had listed for sale on Craigslist a 2006 silver Chevrolet Trailblazer and then robbing potential buyers. One of the suspects is 20 years old, another 17 and third is a juvenile.

Deputy Chief Donald Glandon said deputies had made arrangements to meet the sellers about 11:30 p.m. Monday near Gratiot and Shadowoods in Roseville. As the suspects arrived, police arrested two of them. The third drove away, but was caught a short time later.

Police recovered a handgun during the incident, which they believe may have been used in the previous robberies as potential buyers showed the sellers cash.

Police say they believe the suspects were involved in other incidents in Roseville. One was around 8 p.m. March 28 in the 19700 block of Jerome, near Masonic and Gratiot. The second was around 5:15 p.m. April 2, also in the Gratiot and Shadowoods area.
