Sterling Heights to host annual Plant Exchange in May
The Sterling Heights Beautification Commission is sponsoring its annual plant exchange from 10 a.m. to noon May 14 at the Nature Center, 42700 Utica Road.
The free “green” event allows gardeners to exchange plants of various varieties. Participants can package their plants in plastic bags, boxes or small containers. Gardeners may also bring gardening magazines and books to exchange or donate.
To simplify the process, those exchanging plants are asked to make up cards giving the name, brief description and care of the plant.
The annual event aims to help the community, Beautification Commission Chairman Gary Isom said in a statement. “Thinning out overgrown perennials and exchanging them with other garden enthusiasts is a great, no-cost way to bring beauty and color to your home.”
