A woman sporting a red wig, shades and a long-winded note walked into a Fraser bank Thursday and walked away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The incident happened at 1:56 p.m. at the Bank of America at 34200 Utica Road, Fraser Police Lt. Mike Pettyes said.

“The woman came in with a note, which was pretty long,” Pettyes said. “It was eight sentences long, but she only read part of it out loud: ‘I have a gun in my purse; give me all your money.’ ”

The teller handed an undisclosed amount of cash to the robber, who put the money in her purse and walked away, Pettyes said.

“She walked northbound (through the parking lot) to the drive-through area,” Pettyes said. “She went out of sight of the teller, and then she saw a car whip around. We’re assuming it’s her car.”

Pettyes said the suspected car is a early 2000s white Pontiac Grand Am.

Pettyes said there aren’t often bank robberies in Fraser. “What’s also unusual is that she’s a woman,” he said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Fraser Police at (586) 293-1425.
