Suspect wanted in Macomb County building break-in

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a suspect who broke into the Macomb County administration building overnight.

Images released Friday show the suspect was wearing a light colored baseball cap, dark jacket, teal pants and bright white shoes.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. at 1 S. Main Street in Mount Clemens.

Authorities were alerted to the incident when employees from the Treasurer’s Office noticed that several items were missing from the office including two empty cash register drawers, an Apple iPod and a tablet.

According to the sheriff’s office, a male suspect entered the build

ing through a temporary construction entrance, entered the administrative tunnel and stole a defibrillator.

“He then went directly to the Treasurer’s Office floor where he climbed beneath the security glass at the clerks counter and began to search the office area for valuables,” the sheriff’s office said in a crime report. “Shortly thereafter, the suspect left the building on foot.”

The empty cash register drawers were found nearby south of the building, authorities said.

Deputies and detectives are canvassing the area and reviewing video footage.
