A 43-year-old Clinton Township man was arraigned last week following allegations that he was in possession of child pornography, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.

Richard Sherman Johnson was charged with one count of computers — using to commit a crime, one count of child sexually abusive activity — distributing or promoting and three counts of child sexually abusive material-possession.

The investigation began in March when the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from the Michigan Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that child pornography had been downloaded to a computer at a Clinton Township residence.

Detectives with the Macomb Area Computer Enforcement unit tracked down the internet service provider and the recipient’s email address, officials said.

Macomb Sheriff detectives executed a search warrant on June 26 at a residence in the Silver Springs Mobile Home Community where Johnson lives with his wife and another couple.

Detectives arrested Johnson and seized several electronic communication devices, officials said.

Bond for Johnson was set at $25,000 cash or surety during a video arraignment Friday in the 41B District Court of Clinton Township.

He remains in the Macomb County Jail. He is scheduled to return to court July 13.
