2 Eastpointe teens accidently shot, injured by another

Two teens are hospitalized with gunshot wounds after a third teen accidentally shot them inside an Eastpointe home, police said.

Lt. Jason Gibson said three male teens were at home alone on the 22000 block of Hayes near Nine Mile when they found a firearm around 3:30 p.m.

One teen was playing with the gun when he accidentally shot the other two, ages 14 and 16, Gibson said.

Both victims were taken to St. John’s in Detroit and were in serious condition. They injuries were not life threatening as of 6 p.m., Gibson said.

The teen who fired the gun is a minor and was not in custody. Gibson would not disclose his age.
