A 25-year-old Chesterfield Township woman remains hospitalized Monday following a head-on collision last week, police said.

Investigators determined a 19-year-old Macomb Township woman was driving north on County Line near 26 Mile at about 9:45 p.m. July 19 when her 2001 GMC Jimmy crossed into the southbound lane and struck the Chesterfield woman’s 2008 Chrysler 300, police said in a statement.

The woman’s 1-year-old child was also in the Chrysler at the time of the crash. The child was riding in the back seat and “sustained no apparent serious injuries.”

The two motorists both were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, police said. Their vehicles also were severely damaged in the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or has additional information is asked to call township police detectives at (586) 949-3375.
