A 33-year-old St. Clair Shores man faces jail time after allegedly hitting a man in an argument about “Pokemon Go,” according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident sent the 53-year-old victim to the hospital, where he remained in intensive care Thursday.

Ryan Jeffrey Steiner was arraigned by video Thursday in 41B District Court in Clinton Township on a charge of aggravated assault, a one-year misdemeanor.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, Steiner was walking in Mount Clemens with his girlfriend and another woman. As they neared Market Street, they encountered a Harrison Township man.

“An argument started between the two men centering around the younger man’s use of his phone to play the game,” officials wrote in a news release Thursday. “The argument devolved into threats and culminated in the younger man striking the older man in the face, at which time the older man fell to the ground.”

Steiner and the two women then went to a nearby bar, officials said.

Witnesses called the Sheriff’s Office. When deputies arrived, they found the victim lying on the sidewalk. He was bleeding from a cut on the back of his head, officials said.

The Mount Clemens Fire Department treated the man at the scene and he was taken by ambulance to McLaren-Macomb Hospital.

Deputies identified a suspect with the help of witnesses. Steiner was arrested at an address on Wagner Street in Warren.

Bond for Steiner was set at $5,000. He is scheduled to return to court at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 24.
