A man has been arraigned Thursday in a violent armed robbery last month in Mount Clemens, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.

Edward Louis Mahone, 30, faces an armed robbery charge after the 1 a.m. Aug. 22 incident on Logan near Groesbeck and Cass, officials said. He was arrested Wednesday and arraigned Thursday in 41B District Court of Clinton Township, where he received a $150,000 cash/surety bond.

He is being held at the Macomb County Jail and is due back in court Sept. 14.

Mahone of Mount Clemens approached a 27-year-old male victim who was walking to an area drug store, officials said last month. He allegedly asked if the victim would like to purchase a cellphone for $13.

After the transaction, the victim allegedly was tripped, beaten and stabbed. Initial reports indicated the victim witnessed several assailants, but authorities Thursday did not mention other suspects in the case.

The victim lost consciousness during the attack and later discovered he had been robbed of $960. He went to a nearby friend’s home to sleep, then called his father and went to an area hospital for treatment for numerous cuts and bruises on his face and scalp, as well as lacerations on his hand.

Police were called by 9:40 a.m. Saturday.
