Man, 18, dies in head-on collision in Harrison Twp.

An 18-year-old man died early Monday in a head-on collision in Harrison Township, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

Michael Mollahan, of Chesterfield Township was driving a 2007 BMW around 2:45 a.m. on eastbound North River when he attempted to pass a 2004 Saab traveling in the same direction, officials said. He crossed the center line and collided head-on with a westbound 2010 Chevy Malibu.

The BMW driver was killed in the crash.

The Malibu driver, a 19-year-old New Baltimore resident, was hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries, officials said. The 19-year-old Saab driver, from Harrison Township, was uninjured but his vehicle was damaged.

It was not immediately clear if alcohol use played a role in the crash, which remained under investigation Monday.
