Gratiot partially closed after fatal car-bike accident

A 77-year-old Roseville bicyclist is dead after he was struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon.

According to police, the accident involving a vehicle and a bicycle occurred around 2 p.m. on Gratiot Avenue at Waldron, which is between 12 Mile and Common.

The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released pending notification of family.

There were no other injuries, police said.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and has been cooperative in the investigation, police said. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor.

All lanes of lanes of northbound Gratiot were expected to reopen before 5 p.m.
