Mount Clemens woman reports home invasion, assault

Mount Clemens — Macomb County sheriff’s detectives are investigating an incident in which a woman reported an intruder broke into her home and struck her in the head with a handgun.

The 36-year-old woman told deputies the break-in and assault happened shortly after her husband left their home, in the 500 block of Clinton River Drive, for work about 8:30 a.m. Friday.

She told investigators she was upstairs when she heard the front door of the home being kicked in. The woman said she confronted a man with a handgun near the stairway, and that he hit her in the head at least twice, knocking her unconscious.

When she came to, she saw her cellphone had been smashed and drove to her parents’ home in Eastpointe, then was transported to St. John Hospital in Detroit, according to the sheriff’s office.

The victim’s father went to the Clinton River address and called the sheriff’s office.

The woman described the intruder as black, 20-26 years old, 5’8,” weighing around 150 pounds and wearing a black Carhartt-style coat. She said he had a dark complexion with a short beard that was longer on the chin.
