2 shot by 3 masked men in Sterling Hts. home invasion
Two men in their 20s were shot during a home invasion early Sunday morning in Sterling Heights, police said.
Around 3:50 a.m., Sterling Heights police responded to the home invasion on the 2800 block of Groves Drive, north of 16 Mile and east of Dequindre. Police arrived to find the men shot. Medics transported them to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police believe that “three masked males armed with handguns” forced their way into the home, held the two at gunpoint, stole jewelry, then shot the men anyway, before fleeing “in an unknown direction.” A K-9 that was called to the scene was unable to pick up a scent on the suspects.
Lt. David Sarvello, a spokesman for the department, said investigators still needed to meet with the victims to get the full extent of what was stolen.
Police are asking that anyone with information that can identify and locate the masked men to call (586) 446-2847.
