1 shot outside Warren auto supplier
One person was shot outside of a Warren auto supplier building Saturday afternoon, police said.
The person was shot outside of Bridgewater Interiors in the 7500 block of Tank Avenue around 3:30 pm., police said. The victim was conveyed to a local hospital with minor injuries, said Lt. Stephen Colegio.
Work at the factory was suspended. Some employees, who did not want to be identified, said a man had shot up some of the cars in the employee parking lot. Police did not provide any further details.
At the scene, police had taped off part of the parking lot. A black Ram 1500 that some employees said was involved in the shooting was sitting on the road near a retention pond with a blown tire. That road is between Bridgewater Interiors and the Michigan Technical Education Center.
The company is an automotive seating manufacturer that opened in November 1998 as a joint venture with Johnson Controls.
Elaine Tingle, the executive director of human resources and community relations for Bridgewater Interiors, said the company is cooperating fully with the Warren police during the investigation.
"The safety of our employees is our top priority," said Tingle. "We’ve got extra security at the plant."
