Carjacking suspect shot in Utica after police pursuit

A carjacking suspect was shot Friday after leading police on a pursuit in Oakland and Macomb counties, authorities said.

Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies began chasing the driver in Pontiac and ended up near Van Dyke and M-59 in Utica, where the shooting was reported.

County officials did not release other details about the incident, which prompted part of M-59 to be closed at Van Dyke.

Macomb sheriff’s deputies remained on the scene assisting the investigation after 11 p.m.
