Police: Argument led to AMC shooting in Clinton Twp.
Clinton Township police have released the person they were holding in connection with a shooting that took place after an argument at a movie theater Sunday.
The victim was shot inside the AMC Star Gratiot 21 theater at 15 Mile and Gratiot about 6:20 p.m. that day, according to Lt. Mike Allis.
Investigators consulted with the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office and released the person they had in custody, police said in a statement Monday.
They also said they will be interviewing more witnesses and investigating the shooting further. Officials said they will release more information when it is available.
Preliminary information found that an argument started between a 24-year-old male of Detroit and a 52-year-old male, also of Detroit. The 52-year-old discharged a firearm, striking the 24-year-old, police said.
Police have the suspected gunman in custody. The victim was shot once. He was listed in critical condition, according to police.
The theater was evacuated and later closed, police said. Lt. Mike Allis on Sunday said he did not know what movie was playing when the shooting occurred, but the shooting was inside a movie auditorium.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Steven Rupkus in charge of the case at (586) 493-7849. Potential charges are pending discussion with the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office, police said.
