Roseville man accused of trying to steal from adult novelty store
Police have charged a Roseville man for trying to steal things from an adult novelty store, officials said Thursday.
Michael Usher, 22, has been charged with second-degree retail fraud and resisting a police officer, according to Roseville Police.
Usher was arraigned on the charges in 38th District Court and a judge set his bond at $25,000. He also scheduled Usher's next court appearance for Wednesday.
Officials said police were called to Cirilla's on Gratiot Avenue north of Interstate 686 last Wednesday. Employees called police to report a man was trying to steal items from the store.
Usher was told he was under arrest, but when an officer tried to handcuff him, the suspect attempted to pull away and left the store, according to authorities.
The officer followed and continued to take the suspect into custody outside of the store, they said.
A 51-year-old civilian from Harrison Township was passing by and offered to help the officer, police said. The two then were able to wrestle the suspect to the ground and the officer was able to take him into custody and then transport him to the police station without further incident.
