An Ira Township woman has been arrested and charged with breaking into a home and stealing a gun and electronics from it, police said Tuesday.

Kelly Rae Smith, 27, has been formally charged in court with second-degree home invasion, a 15-year felony, and one count of receiving and concealing stolen property, a 5-year felony, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

A district court magistrate in Clinton Township ordered Smith held on a $20,000 bond and scheduled her next court appearance for March 5, officials said.

Police said deputies responded to a call about a break-in at a home on Rivercrest Avenue in Harrison Township at about 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10.

Homeowners told deputies they arrived home and found multiple items missing, including jewelry, electronics and a handgun.

Investigators determined the suspect or suspects got into the home through the garage, police said.

Detectives tracked an electric device that was taken from the home to Smith's residence in Ira Township, according to officials.

Police discovered Smith pawned the jewelry and the firearm taken from the victim's house, they said.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for Smith's home and recovered several items stolen from the Harrison Township house, the sheriff's office said.

Smith tried to flee from the scene and she was arrested for several outstanding warrants unrelated to the home invasion, police said.
