A Shelby Township man has been charged in the Saturday murder of a woman, officials said.

Joshua Boshell, 40, was formally charged Tuesday in 41-A District Court in Shelby Township with first-degree murder and felony firearm possession, according to Shelby Township police. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.

A judge ordered him held at the Macomb County Jail without bond, officials said.

Police were called to an apartment on Crystal Lake near 23 Mile and Dequindre for a reported suicide, they said. Officers discovered a 44-year-old deceased woman with a gunshot wound to her head.

After conducting interviews and executing search warrants, investigators arrested Boshell at the scene.

Officials said police had been called to the same residence in the past for calls about domestic disturbances.
